Every year we watch couples exchange vows under the palms in our gardens, and every year the same practical questions come up months earlier, when the planning starts. This guide collects the answers — most of it applies to any garden wedding in Entebbe, whether or not you celebrate with us.
Why Entebbe?
Entebbe has quietly become one of Uganda's favourite wedding towns, for three reasons. First, the airport: international guests land practically at the venue's doorstep instead of facing a long transfer to Kampala. Second, the setting: the peninsula is green, calm and surrounded by Lake Victoria, which does wonders for photographs. Third, logistics: hotels, caterers, florists and sound providers are all concentrated in a small, easy-to-navigate town.
Choosing Your Date: The Seasons
Entebbe sits on the equator, so temperatures barely change — the variable that matters is rain. The drier windows, roughly December to February and June to August, are the most popular wedding seasons. March–May and October–November bring heavier rains. Two honest caveats from experience:
- Lakeside weather is never guaranteed. Even in dry season, book a venue with a solid wet-weather plan — a marquee on standby or an indoor fallback. (Ours pairs the gardens with our indoor function space.)
- Dry-season Saturdays book out months ahead. If your heart is set on one, move early.
Guest Logistics Come First
Before flowers and colour schemes, settle the unglamorous things:
- Accommodation: block-book rooms early, especially for guests flying in. Having the bridal party sleep where the reception happens removes an entire category of wedding-day stress. Our packages include a bridal suite, with guest rooms on site for the wedding party.
- Transport: if guests stay in Kampala, budget 1–2 hours' travel and brief drivers on the Expressway route. Better: keep guests in Entebbe.
- Numbers: Ugandan celebrations grow. Whatever your list says, agree with your venue how many extra plates the caterer can flex to on the day.
What Does It Cost?
Garden venue packages in Entebbe commonly start in the low millions of shillings. As a concrete reference point, our own Palm Gardens full-day package starts at UGX 2.5M and includes the garden ceremony space for up to 300 guests, an event coordinator, catering and bar service. When comparing venues, ask precisely what is inside the number — chairs, décor, sound, power backup and coordinator are the items that most often turn out to be extras elsewhere.
A Realistic Planning Timeline
- 9–12 months out: fix the date, book venue and photographer, start any civil/religious paperwork.
- 6 months: caterer tastings, décor and sound bookings, block-book accommodation, send invitations (earlier for international guests who need visas — remind them Uganda uses an online eVisa).
- 3 months: final menu, programme and vendor walk-through at the venue.
- 2 weeks: confirm final numbers, seating plan and the wet-weather call chain — who decides, and by what time.
